Safe sex

Hello Doctor, All,
Thank you for reading this question. I am slightly concerned about potential STI/HIV exposure. I have been in a casual homosexual relationship with another guy. We both recently got tested at the local clinic for STIs and HIV and all the tests came back completely clear for both of us. Since this test result has come back clear we have had unprotected  anal sex together. However I'm not entirely sure if in between the test and the results coming back if my partner has not been briefly sexual with someone else. At the moment we generally always have sex without a condom. Is this a cause for concern? Also I have developed a sore throat and swollen glands which I believe and hope is just a small virus that he has passed on to me as he also had it. Although I know that this is a symtom of HIV infection. I don't think the viral thing should be a huge concern but there is a small element of worry. Can any Doctor or someone with insight answer my questions. Many thanks indeed.
