Shotty lymph nodes after possible exposure

Please help, I am going out of my mind with worry. I made a stupid mistake.

I am a straight guy who experimented a couple of times with a friend (also male, straight, have known for years).

The first time we did anything was about October 2005. We had some oral sex (both giving and receiving) and we then tried anal sex (with a condom). However, at the beginning, I gave him oral for about 30 seconds, I dont think there was any pre-*** as we had just started and couldn't taste anything. I then stupidly used my saliva to lubricate the condom he had on before it was inserted in me. We stopped after about 20-30 seconds cause I didn't like it and it hurt like mad.

Since that time we have only now and then, done oral sex on each other (unprotected), without ejaculation most of the time apart from one time more recently when I did take a little *** in my mouth. I didn't have any oral ulceration or cuts, although I did bite my tongue about 3 days previously which was a little achy still but not open wound.

After the first encounter we had when we had anal sex, a day or 2 later, I had quite bad anal itching which persisted for about 2 weeks then went away. About April/May 2006 I started to get aching lymph nodes, which did get quite painful at times. I could feel shotty lymph nodes in my inguinal and femoral region.

I went for std tests and was told I had NGU, which was then treated.

Over the next few months after becoming increasingly more paranoid, I started to feel around and could feel more lymph nodes.

Not long ago, my doctor confirmed that I do have shotty lymph nodes in the groin, axillary, supraclavicular, cervical and under the angle of the chin the ones under the angle of the chin are larger (about 1.5cm-2). I only seem to have shotty cervical and supraclavicular nodes on the left side of my neck. The aching has more or less gone apart from sometimes feeling like a trapped nerve when walking. CBC was normal.

I'm so worried and depressed right now, would really appreciate your help.

Thank you

Thank you guys, really appreciate your help with this. I feel a lot better now.

I just dont know what the hell to make of these lymph nodes though. They are not huge like I've heard of in people with HIV. But they are there, the ones at the angle of my jaw are actually different in shape. One on the left is like a lima bean, maybe slightly larger, and the other one is a lot flatter and longer. I only have one cervical lymph node about 1cm on the left hand side of my neck. I also have numerous BB sized nodes at the base on the left hand side. Nothing on the right.

I can also feel shotty lymph nodes deep in both armpits and in my inguinal and femoral region.

These have been confirmed by a Dr.    CBC was normal

Im sorry for the questions but I'm thinking back to a year before all these symptoms started, I briefly had unprotected sex with a girl I dont know. I caught Clamydia/Gonnorhea. I am Circumcised. I know the stats are about 1/1000 with a known infected woman, the advisor I spoke in the clinic didnt seem too concerned about HIV.

Do you think my lymph nodes are related to this incedent, even though it was about a year before they flared up?

Also, do you think I was significantly at risk of catching HIV from this incedent?

Thanks again

Well, Teak has summed it up quite nicely. Brief, succinct and to the point. Brevity and economy of style are the hallmarks of any good communicator - a fact that I cannot seem to convince my typing fingers of.

In short, as I will try to be brief, Teak is absolutely right. All of the worry and anxiety that you feel right now are completely unfounded and unecessary. You had no risk of contracting HIV from the activities that you have described. You did the right thing, you wore a condom, and thus you were protected from HIV and a whole host of other STDs. Bravo, the smart thing to do. Oral, as many, I am sure, will tell you, is not much of a risk at all for transmission of HIV. Thus, given the facts above, I'd say you don't have much to worry about, if anything.

Feel better? If not, repeat reading the posts you will see in response to your query until you do feel better. They are right on the money. No risk!
