So the package of the needle also different as well?
YES.The 2 are different because one is drawing more blood that the other.
Hi, for the blood donation, I went to RED CROSS. The needle that they use is it the same as the common blood draw's needle ?? I went to a clinic to test HIV before the blood donation. I went to test HIV 1 year ago, and the blood donation was done yesterday. But, when I donated my blood, I saw the package of the needle is different than my blood draw. My question is : Is it true that the needle is a little bit different between blood donation and blood draw ? ( Including package and inside the needle)\
Need your help, Thanks !
I mean, if the screening test the blood bank did came back positive for HIV, then you would be notified....and NO, again.....you don't receive any kind of notification if your tests do not reveal any infections.
really worried...Your blood is not tested for cholesterol when donating blood....just for blood borne infections.
If you are negative for all blood infections, you might receive a thank you note from the blood bank with other details such as your blood Cholesterol level etc.
hi, I do not konw what do you mean by POS for HIV. So, do you mean if my hiv negative, I will not be notified, right??
Some answers to your questions...
The notification process after a blood donation of donors who have been found positive for HIV, Hepatits, etc, can be lengthy...certainly nowhere near a week. Usually a month or more. It varies from location to location.
BLOOD DONATION IS NOT A WAY TO TEST FOR HIV. If you need to know your status, seek out a test at a clinic or doctor's office. If you are unsure of your status, you should NOT be donating blood.
The finger prick test they did had nothing to do with HIV, it was to check for anemia.
Lastly, no...people who do not test POS for HIV or other blood borne illnesses are not notified.
Hi, one more qustion. Will they send me my result after donation?? I know if someone has hiv postive will be sent the result. But, How about the heath people ( HIV negative), will they also received the result as well??
Before I donated blood, the doctor made my finger for a little blood. After that, they said I can donate my blood. So , befor the donation, do they detect my HIV status through my little blood of finger??
Yes,they use specific tests for screening donated blood like the NAT test.
Hi, so If I am in hiv window period, can the blood donation detect the hiv reative ??
I can,t give you a specific time frame but one would have to assume they would want to let you know as soon as they can.
So, how many days in general? about 1 week to contact me??
If your blood contains any type of blood borne virus they will let you know as soon as possible.
