Stained Bedsheets?

Hi,  judging by what I have read I am hoping that I am just being paranoid.  However, 2 questions:

1)  My wife had an affair and moved out, I handled it badly and had a one-night-stand with a woman I picked up in a club.  Took her back to my place.  Used condoms. This was 5 weeks ago.  Feel fine.  Just a cough with some bad phlegm, but doc gave antibiotics and now feel better (though cough is still there, no phlegm).  No headaches or body aches or fever or joint pain or shortness of breath or any other syptoms.  Tested negative for HIV after 4 weeks.  I am aware of the window so will test again.at 3 months and then again at 6 months to be safe.  Was wondering how frequent it was that people who test negative after a month, later test positive? Does it happen a lot?  More often than not?  Sometimes?  Just like to know...

2)  I have a four year old daugther.  She was staying at her Grandmothers the night of my indiscretion.  The next night, I brought my daughter home.  I checked the sheets in my bed that morning for unpleasant stains and stuff, but couldn't see any.  I switched the sheets round but didn't bother changing them as I had to go to work.  When I got back that night with my daugther I was tired cos I had not slept at all the night before.  After putting my daughter to bed in her room I just crashed on the bed and fell asleep, again not bothering to change the sheets,  In the middle of the night my daughter woke up and since I was too tired to take her back to her room I said she could sleep in the bed with me.  I didn't think anything else about it.

Now - 5 weeks on - my daughter has a cough (no phlegm), slight fever (peaked at 38.3 two nights ago, slipped to 37.5 yesterday and has not returned today), diarrhoea, cold and nasal congestion, tiredness (but no shortness of breath or aching limbs) and is complaining of slight pain in the area just above her groin on the left.   She says this pain eases after she has been to the toilet.  Went to doctor and he gave her antibiotics for flu and cough mixture and stuff to relieve the inflammed tonsils and the nasal congestion.

As I said when I started this post, I am hoping I am just paranoid...but, she did have a graze on her leg and feet when she slept in the bed and I am terrified that if the woman I slept with was HIV+ is there any chance that my daughter could have caught it from stained bedsheets? From vaginal fluid or blood if this woman also had an open sore?  (not that I saw any stains on the sheets or open sores on the woman, but still...).  I cannot think of any other way she could have contracted it, since she has certainly not come into contact with any of my blood.

If you all call me stupid and paranoid you will actually make me a very happy man...it will go someway to relieving my intense fear...my wife and I are trying to patch things up now for the sake of my daughter and I cannot even let her know how scared I am about all this.

Please reply.

oh sorry, I misread your post (a bit tired).  Still, one day is a considerable amount of time  - enough for the virus to be degraded.

OK...I may be a bit grungy, but I definetly change the sheets more than once in every 5 weeks!  My daughter slept in the bed the night after I had sex with this woman.  Thats what is worrying me...

We have a similar situation, except that my wife didn't move out and that I got a "pro".  But dang, five weeks ago? Same time as me...

We both had protected sex, so we shouldn't have a problem (although you tested and I didn't at 4 weeks.)

And about your daughter, any virus would have degraded by 5 weeks, so nothing to worry about there, either.

Guilt and paranoia are best buddies and hang out together.  I know. I'm there.  I know in my left brain I had no risk but my right brain keeps on giving me the willies.  You'll probably not need to test anymore - that's what most doctors would say - but you, like me, need to resolve our guilt.
