Survival of virus

Hi, the community forum always emphasise, that the HIV virus begins disintegrating once outside the body.
But a recent post from the doctor contradicts this. Please clarify on this matter.

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/HIV---Prevention/Is-this-an-hiv-Risk-at-any-level/show/1799360

" IF that person had been injured with it; IF that had happened within the past few minutes, i.e. before drying of the blood killed the virus; and IF there were obviously visible wet blood remaining on the blade:  then there MIGHT be a risk you caught HIV or another blood-borne virus, like hepatitis B or C"

Hi Teak, in case you didnt get my earlier message

would HIV in semen survive inside condom ...for less than a minute...this is because the semen in the folds are not exposed to air...

Hi Teak, how fast the virus shell will be damaged and lose the infectious? The HIV virus is in the blood or secretion that is not exposed in the air. My case is the narrow wound injured in 20 mins touched the fresh vaginal secrection (Within seconds )during a protected sex with a sex worker ( the wound was cracked by dry skin or cut by something sharp, but stopped bleeding)
Can the virus enter my body through my wound?
Do I need a test, please?
Appreciated!!

Hi Teak thanks.

This was not my exposure. I just cited an example.

Okay to my case....would HIV in semen survive inside condom ...for less than a minute...this is because the semen in the folds are not exposed to air...

When the virus is exposed to the enviroment the outer shell of the virus is damaged which is where the gp120 are located and the gp120 is needed to attach to the dendrite cells for the virus to enter the cell for the replication process to take place.

I can tell you for a fact that you were never at risk of contracting HIV in the situation you've provided.

The doctor's opinions aren't if they are educated in HIV.

Hi,

I believe this info is from the CDC website.

But why the doctor's opinion is different?

HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

HIV is transmitted by;
Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug abusers
Mother to child
