Symptoms

Hi, Im a male 24 years old, I´ve been having sex with a 21 year old girl I met about six months ago, about two months ago we started having unprotected sex, before we even started having sex even with condoms, we both tested for stds and hiv with negative results for both of us, the thing is that yesterday I broke on a fever and had heavy diarrhea all night, and went to the dr and told me it was just a gastrointestinal infection, and gave me an antibiotic injection, so today I´m still feeling exactly the same and I´m scared that maybe she infected me with HIV.

So I want you to tell me what do you think about the symptoms and if I need an hiv test

Welcome to our Forum.  I'll be glad to comment.  Your partner was HIV negative at the time you began to have sex and the chance that she acquired HIV since then is minuscule.  I agree with your doctor that this is not something to worry about although in my opinion this is most likely to be a viral illness, like nearly all illnesses of this sort.  I see no reason for you to even seek testing related to your current symptoms unless you plan to test every time that you acquire a viral illness.  If you feel you must, you can test at this time and when you get the negative test that I am sure you will, you can be sure your symptoms are not due to HIV since if they were your test would be positive at this time (positive tests virtually always accompany symptoms if the symptoms are due to HIV.

I hope this perspective is useful to you.  Please do not worry.  EWH
