Testing Question!

Hello! My question has to do with the OraQuick Gum Swab take-home test.

My last event of unprotected sex (any sex at all was 5 months ago nearly to the day. I just took the OraQuick gum swab test and it came out negative. The control line is strong and solid, bright purple. There is not even a hint of a line at the T. Very obviously a negative test.

In hindsight, reviewing the test, I may have taken a small sip of water as close as 5 minutes before I took the test. I think it was closer to 20 minutes, but I do not remember for sure. Anxiety I had before the test has returned in wondering if I received a false negative. After 5 months, would a sip of water before the test be enough to give me a false negative? Thanks!

Tests don't work if you don't follow instructions. What was your risk, oral or other?
