Testing for other STDs

Hi, my gf just got tested for HIV and other STDs. It is her blood that will be looked at. Besides HIV, can most of the other STD's be detected from blood? Are there any other big ones that arent that we should be concerned about? thanks.

regularjoey is correct. I had viral orchitis early in the year (and they way they determined it was viral, not bacterial, was though a urinalysis checking for G/C among other things). The rest, as joey mentions, is through a blood test.

There is a social stigma surrounding HSV; essentially it's just a glorified skin condition. HPV isn't much of a concern for guys (can be for females). Untreated syph is a concern. Who cares about the rest.

Urine test is usually used for G/C screening.  HIV, syphilis and HSV-2 are definitely detected by a blood test.  Try the other forum
