I never said there are no strains of HIV. All I want to say is the mode of transmission/infection for all those strains is the same.
But there ARE different strains, with A, B, C tags. Look up HiV subtypes on Wikiedia
I dont have any links to prove anything, its just common sense :). If HIV infection would have been dependent on strains of virus, then the infection would have been refered to as HIV-Strain A..HIV -Strain B and the exposures and conditions would differ too. You need not read any link for this. Its plain common logic :)

The above doesnt mean that single exposure wont lead to an infection. That is stated over all in general observation as HIV is a fragile virus to get transmitted via penis-vaginal intercourse in single go. Its diffucult not impossible.
