WB and DNA PCR

Would a WB and DNA PCR test result be accurate for contact that occurred at 6 months ago, or more?

Thank you.

Just to be sure, I'm going for a test next week.  This will be 3 months from my Tokyo incident (which I'm not as worried about as before) and 9 months since a different event.

I get a PCR-DNA every three months and it says I'm undetectable and I've had HIV for 26 years.

Thank you so much.  WB came back non-reactive and DNA none detected.  I am glad to hear that in spite of overkill they were accurate.

Your doctor seems to be a complete idiot.

You never really required the above mentioned tests, a regular antibody test was enough. However, don't freak out by now, you don't need no further testing, you had a negative WB and that certainly rules out HIV infection.

But, once again let me keep you and other WWs informed that HIV antibody test is the standard test to examine one's sero-status, should it come back positive, only in that case a WB is administered to conclude the antibody test result. A negative WB is certain that the antibody would have been negative at the first place.

Those are incorrect tests. PCR-DNA are monitoring test for people KNOWN to be HIV positive to monitor their progression and a Western Blot is used to confirm a positive result from and ELISA test. Go back to that doctor and get your money back for having you take incorrect tests.

Those were what the dr ordered at the time.  So is it possible that they would not detect at 6 months?

They get ELISA tests because they are the correct tests.

Teak, I'm asking about a different contact event.  One that occurrd 6 months and a few days prior to the two tests.  I just wanted to know if those tests would be accurate to detect HIV at the 6 month mark because I'm not familiar with how they work.  Most folks get ELISA.

Thank you
