Western Blot and Elisa

May I know the difference?  Why not take the Western Blot immediately instead going thru the Elisa first? Dont you think it's just spending twice for the same test if the Western Blot is always the confirmatory test?

My exposure was real I would suppose since I tested positive for Chlamydia so I would assume there was indeed oral and vaginal penetration, although I still cant recall.
Thanks anyway for everything, best of luck to everyone here.
Will just get another test on my 100th using another type I will just look around for an ELISA test.

You never had an exposure and you did not need any testing.

Hi Good Morning, I just wanted you to know that a few minutes ago I got my test result online at exactly 88 days post exposure, result below:
Particle Agglutination
Serodia HIV 1/2
TP01004
September 2011
NONREACTIVE
Can I stop worrying and move on? Or do you suggest another different test like ELISA or WB, just to be safe since I still have painful tongue, white tongue, nausea, muscle pain, weigh loss, etc.
Thank you all for the support despite the continuous barrage of questions.
Best of Luck and GOD Bless you all.

No you can't assume that, because it isn't. Western Blot is not a diagnostic test.

Being confirmatory can we assume that the western blot is and will be more sensitive and accurate? If this is so did anyone make a comparison with regards to using the western blot for primary/first test than Elisa to make the window period shorter which for us would shorten our anxiety period.

Western Blot tests are confirmative tests.
