Is the OraQuick® Advance Rapid
HIV-1/2 Antibody test a western blot or ELISA?
Ok, So the free test at the health departments that use a rapid test by finger stick or oral mouth swab is an ELISA and not a western blot test? Is a western Blot test the rapid oral or finger stick?
ELISA is a HIV 1 and sometimes 2 antibody test. Western Blot is a more sensitive, confirmatory antibody test only used if the ELISA is positive. The third is the HIV duo which is used to detect HIV antibody and p24 antigen which develop before HIV antibody that can allow earlier detection. None of these tests give a conclusive result before 3 months. The oral and finger stick are rapid HIV antibody tests that give results within 20-40 minutes I believe. It would not be a western blot but could be an ELISA. Not sure if it'd be a duo or not. This is what I believe they all are, an expert could answer better but i"m pretty sure about it.
