What exactly is the type of sore throat which is caused by hiv?

I have to take a test because last year I was very promiscuous. I am a little concerned about an illness that I got september of last year. I went to the emergency room and was told when the doctor looked at my throat that it was strep. He didnt do a test though. I had a fever and sore throat and that was it but it took me 20 days to get rid of it. I had to take two different antibiotics. Could that at all be mistaken for not being caused by hiv. My whole throat was torn up and it went down into the esophagus and it was hard to drink. I was just wondering if an hiv caused sore throat does the same thing as a strep sore throat. Do they look similar?

No a sore throat alone would not have anything to do with HIV. If you had a sore throat coupled with a rash, high fever and swollen lymph nodes then those could be symptoms, but also symptoms of a viral infection.

Can never use symptoms or lack of symptoms. And symptoms don't last for 20 days with HIV.

I took a test so waiting for results. Still interested in knowing though if an hiv caused sore throat could be mistaken for having strep throat. Does anyone here know?

Dont ever go by symptoms at all. They can be misleading and cause anxaity. Get tested if you think you had an HIV risk.

A sore throat by itself douse not constitute HIV symptom. You need to have multiple other symtoms Fever, Rash, Severe throat throat to have ARS symtoms.
