Why do some places still reccomned 6 month tests?

After unprotected sex I had a negative result 13.5 weeks after in an std exam that also looked for HIV 1 and if reactive they also would test for HIV 2 and both were negative. I feel very confident in this result, I live in a country ( Canada) where healthcare is good but why do some people insist on six months testing? In my case im Tottaly in the clear right? I'm just asking again since my doctor didn't tell me any testing guidelines and some forums say 6 months is conclusive. Please advise

-.- in case you didnt read my other comments I also had unprotected sex with my short term girlfriend. I didn't want to mix up the scenarios. I would hardly call a couple questions, one about an actual about an actually risk " excessive posting about a no risk situation". I was just asking here why some doctors and forums still refer to the six month guidelines.

* Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusively negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to action by MedHelp. Conclusively negative results or a no-risk situation will be based upon the criteria established by MedHelp’s doctors. Action will be taken as follows:
    * After excessive posting, a warning will be issued by MedHelp
    * Continuing to post regarding the negative result / no risk situation will result in a 3 day suspension
    * Continuing to post upon your return will result in a permanent ban.

Very good.i completely believe you and accept the tests conclusiveness but why aren't some people up to date on HIV testing guidelines? It's pretty  big difference 3 and 6 months waiting. Wasn't it since 2004??? Btw would my test of been an antibody test?
