Had sex with a prostitue, think that I might had HIV

Hello,

Ok here is my situation.

The second of October (02/10/2010) I had sex with a prostitute, that look rather "filthy". She gave me a blow job while using a condom, then we had sex with the same condom; she might damaged it with her teeth, I really don't know. I didn't ejaculate since I lost my erection; then I took of the condom, but didn't inspection it. However I had a tiny cut in one of my fingers, it wasn't bleeding or anything (it was a crack, it was tiny but it was there), and some of her fluids might have fallen into the wound.I clean my hands and member after an hour of the sexual encounter.

Last week around 27th of October (27/10/2010) I got a terrible flu (I had a little of a sore throat); however the weather has been quite rainy and some people around me have gotten the flu. I did a round of Azithromycin, and now I'm fine. Furthermore this last week I have had some constant little headaches (not really big, just tiny headaches), which I had treated with Exedrin. I also have had a little dizziness, but nothing big. I haven´t had any type of diarrhoea, nor rash, nor fever, nor swollen lymph glands (that I can tell).

So,
1. What are the odds that I contracted HIV in my encounter with the prostitute?
2. Do I have early HIV symptoms?
3. Do I need to get tested? When is the right time to do so?

Thanks in advance for your response, I really appreciated it. I am really worried of having wrecked my life by doing that stupid thing. And finally I'm sorry for my rather bad english.

one of the BEST reasons not to test for a no risk situation is the chance of getting a false positive on a test.  THEN WHAT?????  you think you've got anxiety now?  try getting a false positive and having to go through the wait of further testing.

there is NO reason for someone to test when they had no risk ! ! !

I never said my opinion was fact.I have Ocd and would never stop freaking out if I had sex with a prositute protected or not.Thats why I tell people to be tested even if the risk is none according to you. Condoms are not always 100% , if they were women wouldn't be getting pregnant while using them. I think it makes perfect sense to get a test that could protect others and yourself when you can go to many clinics and get it done for free. Sorry but when someone tells me that they had sex with a filthy looking prostitute, I don't think its unrealistic to recommend a test. Protected or not. What if the condom was ineffective. Besides even if theres no risk, theres no harm in a test to reassure yourself. Like I said I have an anxiety issue and most of the posts I had read sound like some other peple do as well, the way they ask questions over and over and over even though they have been told theres no risk, so why not tell them to get a test and so they can stop questioning.

Your opinion is not fact. Why would you even advise someone to test when they never had a risk to begin with? Doesn't make any realistic sense.

It seems to me that testing would ease anxiety , not add to it. Why keep yourself freaked out and wondering if you can have a simple to test for reassurance..

There is no reason what so ever to test for HIV to put yourself in unwarrented further anxiety.

HIV symptoms are very similar to many other conditions, so its not recommended or smart to try and diagnosis yourself based on this. You seem very concerned about your risk , even though the advice you have recieved you had no risk. So even though you had no risk, it might ease your mind to test at 1 mth after the event and then 3 mths. Stop trying to diagnose yourself with symptoms, it will only drive you nuts and the questions will never stop. Go see your doctor and explain your situation and ask his advice, most doctors will test you to ease your mind if nothing else. Its good to be tested once  ayear anyway if you are sexually active and not in an exclusive relationship. (i.e. sleeping with prostitutes ever now and then.)

Lizzie,

I just found a rash in my leg. It is located in my upper right leg, and it is only in a tiny area. It does not itch or anything like that. They are tiny red-brown spots.

Here is a picture of the rash (it kind of blurry, since it has hard to take and the camera isn't that great):

Can you please tell me, if this is a HIV related rash?
Thank you.

Thanks for you help Lizzie.

However I have an additional question. After that sexual encounter (meaning two or three days after), I had unprotected sex with my 5 years stable partner. She is actually kind of sick right know; according to her she is really dizzy, her stomach aches, she has a lot of headaches lately and no appetite (I think she might have some diarrhoea). However no sign of flu nor rash.

Does this changes the situation?

Thank you in advance. I'm sorry for the intensity, I'm just worried.
