Will valtrex affect HIV RNA Quantitative result?

I take valtrex 500mg everyday, will this affect the result of the test? I took the HIV RNA test 8 days after unprotected sex.

The result came out negative.

No.  Valtrex does not affect HIV test results.

I had unprotected sex with a woman, not sure if she has HIV.

But I took the HIV RNA test 8 days after unprotected sex. came out negative and no infection Detected.

You really shouldn't take that test sooner than 10 days after a risk event.  Test again to be sure.  In most places, the RNA test is pretty expensive.  If you wait until at least 28 days after the event, you can get a 4th generation (Ag/Ab) test at a lower cost, and it will be conclusive.

As mentioned previously, this test is not considered conclusive until at least 28 days after the event.

Has it been 28 days as suggested? No. So, wait 28 days for the 4th generation test or you are wasting your money.  A one time unprotected vaginal sex encounter is less than 1 percent risk. No more questions until you meet the window period and test then. take care.
