Window period

Most experts on the internet agree that the duo test is conclusive at 28 days. Given that the antibody piece is fully realiable at 6-8 weeks and that the p24 antigen is usually detectable 7 days before antibodies shouldnt 7 weeks be required for a duo test?

Thanks

Doesn't increase anything. HIV is not transmitted by oral sex.

Forgot to mention she had dental braces would that increase the chance of transmission?

Thanks for the information. Maybe cdc is overly conservatitive.

by Emily_MHModerator,
And to clarify, it is this site's stance, based on studies and our own MedHelp experts (all of whom are world-renowned for their work in this field), that oral sex carries no risk for HIV.

You never had an exposure and didn't need testing.

Interesting, HHH and other mds here on medhelp consider the duo conclusive at 4 weeks. My question is that I had insertive oral risk and teste the duo at 5 weeks with negative result.

No most experts do not. There are no tests marketed or sold to give a conclusive negative test result earlier than 3 months post exposure.
