Worried about an exposure to HIV

Hi Doctor,

I'm a 23 year guy, I had a risky encounter about 8 weeks ago where I had unprotected insertive anal sex with a male prostitute. I was extremely intoxicated and I didn't exactly know what i was doing because this person was actually playing as a woman, i didn't see any male parts but looking back i know it was a man or a transsexual at least.

So just after the incident i had a sore throat which turned out to be strep, then about a week later i started to have stomach problems, the pain seemed to be moving from one are of my stomach to another. I did not have insurance so I didn't go to the doctor for about 3 or 4 weeks. When I did go, I was told at this clinic I had a UTI because they checked my urine and I took antibiotics which did improve my stomach pains.

After this I started to get back lower back pains and my stomach at this stage was still not 100% right, even now its sore from time to time. All along I was very worried about being infected with HIV and when I got these back pains I had enough and went to my new PCP because I now have insurance. I reluctantly told him what happened and he laughed at me. He also said that there was no way I could of had a UTI, even though they told me at the previous clinic I had. My PCP did do the HIV blood test and other STD tests and everything was negative. This was at 6 weeks from the time of exposure.

I was very relieved with this result but since getting that result last week, I have started to get a rash on my neck and its spreading down my chest, i also have redness on the tops of my feet. I have to say when I started to notice this I felt so panicked I honestly didn't know what to do. I have been researching online and that also gave me some relief that the 6 week test is very accurate.

Now today my throat is sore again, I cannot believe it, its like i keep getting symptom after symptom. My back pain hasn't gone away either. I need some advice about this or what I should to because I am so worried I actually have nobody to turn to. I am extremely ashamed of what happened so I am too embarrassed to tell anybody.

Please help!

A 6 week negative is very accurate but a 12 week negative is what you need to be 100% sure you are in the clear.
