Worried incident

To whom it may concern, foremost merry Christmas.

So I had a incident that I got bitten on the thigh by a Individual that I don't know anything about. The individual was bleeding from his mouth while he bit me. His bite penetrated into my skin but my pants weren't ripped but I did bleed from the bite.

I was prescribed pep medication for hiv. What's the chances from this incident of contracting hiv? Thank you!

The doctor prescribed it because blood was present during the bite which penetrated into my skin and the individual is a junkie. I was not as anxious but with all these possibilities with the doctor saying it but then again it's just to cover themselves about it.

The doctor also presecribed it to me because it was a work injury incident.

I've read that once hiv hits the air that the HIV virus is dead and that saliva has so many glands that it also kills the virus.

Thank you for your respond.

The blood is irrelevant in this case not only because of the dead virus in the mouth but also even if both of you had wounds OUTside the mouth, they would each have to be deep gaping.with the virus thrust deeply inside  Like wounds from a car accident, but the pain would be so intense that neither of you could stand your wound being touched by the other's wound.
This explains why some docs prescribe PEP needlessly trying to "cover themselves" as you accurately described it.. https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/09/15/hiv-phobia-preventative-pills/?src=mv&mcubz=1
So stop taking the pep medication because it makes me fatigue, sleepy, have a headache and causing high blood pressure
That's a decision that only you can make, but PEP is intended to be taken after high-risk events only, and you had a no-risk event.  I'm not even sure why the doc gave it to you as PEP can have side effects (and it sounds like you're experiencing those).

Zero risk. HIV is instantly inactivated in both air and saliva so is effectively dead from a bite. The doctor prescribed PEP as a placebo and is a waste of your time and does nothing for your health.
Were you anxious and did you ask for the PEP?
