HIV is NEVER diagnosed by symptoms. It is highly unlikely that your 6 week negative status, and her 7 week negative status will change.
First of all, ALL states have not yet changed to the 6 week window because they look to the CDC for their guidelines. Most states look to the CDC for their guidelines because they have little or no research going on in their own states regarding HIV transmission.
The states that have the most advanced research and the cities with the most experience with the epidemic (NYC, Seattle and San Francisco) ALL quote a 6 week definitive window!
As everyone acknowledges, the CDC is the MOST CONSERVATIVE of all agencies working in this area.
Personally, I prefer to go with the MOST ADVANCED AND UP TO DATE information, rather than the most conservative.
But until ALL states AND the CDC get on the same page, if you need the peace of mind of testing at 12 weeks, by all means test.
Just an update..i took a duo test at 10 and half weeks..and its negative..iam satisfied by my results as alot drs consider such a result as conclusive and even the cdc says that..anw for people reading this..ive got every little symptom..angular cheilitis..follicultis(when you google things it will be only linked to hiv)..i got dandruff that i never had..lymph nodes..fever..for all people..just please go and test..it will be hatd time and its hard to tell you to ignore the symptoms cause i couldnt..but try to..
Thank you for the answer..what about the duo test?actually i have done my tests?now its about 10 weeks from the exposure..guess ill wait 10 more days and test.
