budesonide effect on HIV antibody test for my 3 year old.

Dr,
My 3 year old had a blood contamination incident which visiting a doctor in genetics and that is the reason i am very much worried is that she is falling sick all the time.

Before the incident i rarely remember taking her to the doctor once every 6 month.

After that incident she is continously falling sick once or twice very month with runny nose, cold, cough and sometimes fever. It has been close to one year now and we are dealing with the same situation day in and day out.

It is very rare that is she is not having runny nose or cold, cough. May be i can think of one week in a month she is good, and three weeks she is having this problems.

After three days after the blood was drown, she had high running nose, cough, and after seven days after the blood was drawn, she has high fever from the past four days including the running nose and cough, and is taking ibuprofen to control the temperature, and an antibiotic as well.

She uses Albuterol, budesonide(oral inhalers) in her nebulizer and some antiboitics(if she has fever), she takes Nasonex shots, and she uses Waldryl allergy and Zyrtec.

I discussed the situation with my pediatrician and because of the blood contamination incident, we got her tested for Hep A, Hep B, Hep C and HIV after 5 months 20 days after the incident.

Now she is 4 years old.

My question to you doctor is do you think using these medications either budesonide or those antibiotics or those Nasonex shots or Waldryl,Zyrtec.

Do these medications or treatments cause a wrong HIV antibody test result or a delay. Would that in any way affect my test results/ antibody production?

They did a western blot for HIV without doing an elisa, it was negative.

Vance,
I hope i was clear i what i am told you previously, basically the previous patient blood was already in her arm from the tourniquet and the needle was inserted on the blood(previous patients) into my daughter's blood stream. So basically directly injected the previous patients blood into my daughter's blood stream.

Thank you.

Thanks for the answer Vance and Lizzie. The tourniquet that was used to draw blood for my daughter for some chromosomal testing was having fresh blood. They used the same tourniquet which they used it for a previous patient. The person did not use a gloves and used the tourniquet on my daughters hand and since they hands are very small, and the person was tying the tourniquet and it came on to his fingers also, he did not realize it,  as he was very old. I saw it in the end just the tourniquet but i thought what will happen if it is on the belt. But when she was falling sick 2 times a month after that incident so often, is when i was thinking more about the incident and made me more worried. Even the paper which he has given to me later had blood stains. So basically blood was on her hand/arms and on top of it only the injection was used to draw blood. It was a unfortunate night mare incident and i feel so guilty that i should have asked him to stop then and there and use a clean one.

I was already under so much pain, as they predicted a developmental delay and that is why i was refered to a genetist to get a chromosal array testing done on my daughter. The glad thing is that she was wrongly diagnosed with the developmental delay and she is doing great and perfectly alright except a minor speech delay.

For adults the tourniquet will be tied on the muscle, but for a 3 year old, since the hands are small the tied area is where the blood is drawn from.

a CONCLUSIVE result is obtained 3 months post exposure...your child does NOT have hiv...no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

What type of blood contaimination are you talking about?

Her tests are conclusive, the medication would have no effect on them.
