cdc 3 month test

hello everyone i have been on this forum for the last 3 months and must say i have learned a lot since my high risk exposure i have never had any questions until now i called cdc today and asked them if i test negative at 3 months if it was definite and conclusive they said no that 3 months is only about 97% conclusive this really wories me now so basically 3 out of 100 people take longer than 3 months to seroconvert? also i asked about people on chemo iv users etc.. they said it just depends on the person if any of you guys have more info on this that would be great thanks

3 months is conclusive period.

next time you have your blood drawn...apply pressure for a while instead of letting them put a bandaid on it.  this should help with the bruising.  this is a normal thing to happen and is in no way related to hiv.

oh i see when i went to get my hiv test after everytime they draw blood after my exposure it leaves a bruise where the needle was isnt easily brusing a sign of hiv?

You wouldn't be on a computer asking questions if you had a suppressed immune system. You would be in and out of doctors offices and hospitals.

wow Teak 23 years you must be what they call a non progresser so how would someone know if they had a suppressed immune system and needed testing out to 6 months?

I've had HIV for 23 years and my CBC has always been normal. The only time it was abnormal was with an OI. The only way you would know if you were infected is by an HIV test ONLY.

so would these people on chemo etc how low cbc counts?

3 months is conclusive. 6 months are for people on chemo, take antirejection drugs for transplants and chronic IV drug abusers. If you don't fall in the category above your conclusive test is 3 months.

i spoke to one of there reps she said the guideline is 3-6 months and that 3 months is 97% and 6 moths 100% is this true?

I have no idea who you talked to but the concluse test guidelines were changed by the CDC in 2004.
