chances of risk?

Exactly 4 weeks ago I had a protected sex encounter with a sex worker while on a business trip. She performed oral on me (no rubber but no climax) and then we proceeded to have safe sex. I had recently shaved before the encounter. There was no unprotected genital contact, but oral action in head, trunk & balls. 4 weeks later I have fallen sick with severe coughing, discomfort in muscles and joints, tiredness...no nasal congestion, high fever, swollen glans. The synthoms are similar to a viral bronchitis. My girlfriend at home has gotten a urinary tract infection since my return, after resuming our normal sex life in this time frame. I'm worried I caught something and passed it to her. Am I in HIV risk? Should I get tested? and more importantly, have I put her at risk for HIV or any other STDs? It was a one night thing, a stupid act, but the guilt is eating me up... Should I continue to have unprotected sex with my partner? Is it safe? I don't want to put her at risk. How long should I wait to get an HIV test? Is 4 weeks enough?

Please help me out...

the only reason to test is to ease your own mind...if that is what it takes.   i wouldn't waste my time though...you were not at risk for HIV

What does it take for you to understand you did not have a risk? You don't need testing. If you want to test because of your non-risk issue pay for it. Don't waste the resources that other people need that have had a real risk.

Thanks Teak!

do you think I should ask the docs? My main concerns are:

a) I had recently shaved my genitalia (the same day)
b) 4 week later I had almost flu symptoms (with no Sweats or swollen glans, mostly bronchitis like severe coughing and tiredness)
c) my girl got an infection

so I was concerned it was too much of a coincidence...should I take the test? or ask the docs? I browsed through the forum and it seems the Docs would put me in a very low risk ratio, but I feel irresponsible, specially towards my girl...

You seem knowledgeable...I could get a free test today close were I live.

Should I suggest condoms until I get tested?

Man, I'm a mess! ;-)

Thanks so much for ur support!
