well had  sexual encounter  with  this  guy  and  am  hiv positive  and  did  not  use protection despite  me  having insisted  on  using  a  condom and  the guy  said he  didnt care.  the  whole  thing  was  so  brief  .could he  have  contracted  the  virus  from me. believe  me  that  was  a once  off thing  never  to happen  again.

but  the  whole  thing  is  killing me  as  l  feel  guilty

l  am  very  much  health  and  no sickness  whatso ever and  all  the  symptoms  that  people  talk  of  l  have  never  experienced  them ,l  also  have  a  child  who  tested  negative  two  times  but  l  never  took  any  medicine  when  l  was  pregnant  and  when  l  delivered  because l  didnt  know  by  then that  l  was  positive  one  thing  that  surprises  me  and  l  wonder  how  is  that  possible

USE CONDOMS. Antivirals are usually started at a CD4 of 350. Letting your CD4s get lower without HAART gives you a chance of contracting an OI.

l have  heard  u  guys  and  l  promise  thats  what  l  am  going  to  do and  believe  me  what  l  have  just  told  you  is  the  truth l  have  been  absteining  completely since  l  tested  positive.

well  l  dont  know  much  about  HIV  but  the  last  time  l  had  a  cd4 count  was  in may  this  year  and  it  was  at  984  and  the  doctor  said l  can  not  take  antiritrovirals  yet  unless  it  gets  down to 200  thats  when  l  can  start.l  dont  know  if    that  answers  your  question  fully bamagun  because  l  onestly  do  not  know  how  it  works

and  l  hope  with  this  site  l  will  learn  more  and  know  how  to  take  care  of  myself  and protect  others  around  me

One's serum viral load is not the same as vaginal and cervical viral load. You can still transmit HIV with a non-detectable viral load. Anyone that is HIV positive needs to ALWAYS use protection when having anal and vaginal sex.

would anyone know what her viral load  "might" be after two and a half years? I hear that is probably the lowest it will ever be after the fifteen month mark.. And if that is true would her risk from passing it to the guy be somewhere around 1:2000?

thank  you guys for  your  responses  and  fully  understand what  you said,l  needed  to  get  this  off  my chest  and  you  were there  to  give  your  opinions on  this and l  appreciate  it. l have learnt  my  lesson  l  have  always  been a  responsible  person  l  have  been  absteining since  l  tested  positive  two  and  half  years  ago and  the  only  time  l  decided  to  do  it  l  really screwed  up  guess  l  just  have  to keep  absteining  as always  and  protect others  completely

You are guilty, there is no feeling like it to it. I have to agree, I don't buy this story.

Why would you agree to not use protection even if the guy consented to it?  Doesn't seem very responsible to me.
