i want to know that in india hiv test at ictc centre with hiv comb kit is a 3 or 4 generation test

I asked them and they told me they dont test for p24 hence it would be a 3rd generation test.but the diff in 3rd and 4th is only the antigen testing not the reliability.the antibody testing in both generations are equaly sensitive.

Nareshbbunty gave out incorrect information. There are NO TESTS marketed or sold that will give a conclusive negative test earlier than 3 months.

An ARCHITECT HIV Ag/Ab Combo test result that is nonreactive does not exclude the possibility of exposure to or infection with HIV-1 and/or HIV-2. Nonreactive results in this assay for individuals with prior exposure to HIV-1 and/or HIV-2 may be due to antigen and antibody levels below the limit of detection of this assay.

The need for a repeat HIV test if still within the window period after a specific exposure should be discussed. Although fourth generation tests shorten the time from exposure to seroconversion a repeat test at three months is still recommended to definitively exclude HIV infection.

it is as conclusive as it can get at 8 weeks itself go for a duo test the vidas hiv duo ultra is available in india at rs 300 google the manufacturer site and get the labs numbers in your city it would be conclusive at 4 weeks.
Please tell me that hiv test at 3 month is conclusive because so many site say that 97% of people were positive after 3 month
P24 test is an antigen test if it is with an antibody test it is a 4th generation test.

Teak in ICTC in India they dont do DUO or Combi test they only do antibody tests (since i have been there and had asked specifically for the p24 and pcr tests)
