hairy leukoplakia..one of the first signs of hiv? or something that happens later on. very nervous.

2 months ago i had unprotected vaginal sex and caught gono. I had 2 swollen lymph nodes that appeared right away 2 other swollen lymph nodes that appeared a few weeks later, both in the pelvic region and they still remain swollen today. I was treated and cured of that infection.

A little over a month after exposure I began to become congested and  lymph nodes in my neck swoll up. I have since been on two different rounds of antibiotics and various decongestants but have been unable to clear my sinuses. about 2 weeks ago i began to develop a white film on my tongue and shortly after, an extremely unbearably dry mouth.  I have been given Nystatin anti fungal mouth wash and I have finished about half of it with no improvement on the tongue. I was retested for hiv at 7 weeks 5 days and it came back negative.

Having read posts on this board I know that testing at 7 weeks is very accurate. the only thing that makes me doubt the result is my continued congestion, my abnormally white and dry tongue, and my unchanging enlarged pelvic lymph nodes. the white film does not come off with abrasion. I am very nervous about this.

Can someone tell me if hairy leukoplakia is a initial sign of hiv infection or if that is typically something that shows up after one has been infected for a long period of time?

Also if someone can tell me if the behavior of my pelvic lymph nodes is characteristic of hiv or just a remainder of my gono infection?

This is not a member-moderated forum. No individual member can dictate
"what this forum goes by".

The opening thread clearly states that the criteria is established by Medhelp's doctors (see below), which maintain that tests 6-8 weeks after exposure are conclusive.

* This HIV Community is a place to discuss HIV Prevention based upon the criteria established by MedHelp’s doctors.

According to Medhelp's doctors, you are conclusively negative. Search the expert forum archives, and chose who you want to believe.

The manufacters of the tests, CDC, and FDA do not and cannot dictate how doctors practice medicine.

Wrong information again. That is not what they say and I do deal with Mass and the CDC regularly. I'm not going to argue with you because of your lack of knowledge as Dr. Hook put it to you in his reply to you.

Wrong, The manufacture and the FDA sets the guidelines on the data collected on their testing research. The CDC follows the guidelines set by the manufacture and the FDA. Now if you are going to post responses make sure you know what you are talking about before replying.

Three months is the guidelines from the manufactures and the FDA and that is what this forum goes by. There are no doctors that can change the guidelines to the test that were FDA approved.
