has anyone ever seen a neg @ 12 weeks turn positive at 6 months?

I had a rapid test @ 12 weeks, which came back negative. However, what started as neck pain and a couple of swollen nodes has now turned into lots of swollen nodes in my neck, under arms, groin, back of legs, and stomach, all of which are very painful. I get acid reflux now too, and itchy skin.

My question is, it'll be six months since the exposure next week (a one time unprotected encounter with a woman i didn't know). Is it worth me taking another HIV test to be sure? And has anyone on the board ever known anyone to turn from a negative at 12 weeks to a positive at a later date? (I had a negative at 11 weeks too). I read that lymphadenopathy is symptomatic of HIV infection, and as I seem to be getting more ill week on week, I'm still very worried, and to be honest, quite convinced that it'll be positive if I test again.

Thanks in advance

are you taking anti-rejection drugs after an organ transplant?  on chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis?  a CHRONIC iv drug abuser?

if not...your test is CONCLUSIVE and you do NOT need further testing.

move on...

thanks for the replies teak/lizzie - I read that there was a slim chance that it can take up to 6 months to show up in blood tests, should i not be concerned? it's taking me all my time to stand up now, my whole body is pretty much painful. I'm sorry to mention it again, this will be the last post, but if there was even a slim chance I'd want to make sure I ruled it out.

See your doctor. This is not an HIV concern.
