hiv risk, HSV2 positive but no outbreaks - 8 escorts
Hi,
I got diagnosed with HSV2 on March 18th (no outbreaks), HIV negative. I have had 8 escort encounters before Jan. I have also had 8 sexual encounters with escorts between Jan and my diagnosis date. I have always had protected sex, condom never broke. I have never had any outbreaks, maybe a rash on the scrotum but no sores.
I have read that people with HSV2 have higher chance of getting HIV,
Here is my question. Give that I have never had any sore/outbreak and was always protected, what is my HIV risk?
In my last encounter, 20% of my penile shaft wasn't covered so I got some vaginal fluids on it. Should I be concerned. Should I be worried if I had a breakout that I never noticed since it was mild and vaginal fluid came onto it? If a part of me penis that is not covered is inside a vagina, does HSV2 increase my risks.
I am really stressed, need to know where I am standing. Thanks!

Hey, I dont mean to insult you. But I would be more at ease if you told me where you got this information from and how were you able to say confidently that it poses no risk. Thank you :)
In general, all sexually active people are advised to get screened for STDs once a year. But, strictly regarding the things you said in your question, you had no risk.

Got it, no more self research, just abstinence. Should I get tested? I mean I got tested and was HIV negative.I got tested in March and before Jan I had 8 escort encounters.

The risk only matters if you don't use a condom. So yes, maybe if you had unprotected vaginal intercourse with an HIV infected, your chances would be 1 in a 1000 compared to 1 in 2000 for a person who engages in the same activity, but doesn't have HSV2. However, that all becomes irrelevant when you use a condom, because you are closing all the possible sites of entrance for the virus.
The cuts or sores on the pubic area or the base would not be risky either, because the virus becomes inactive once exposed to air.

Thank you. Im just trying to get a lay of the land. Why would cuts and sores on the base not matter? They might come in contact with vaginal fluid, not deep inside but still some contact.
Also Ive read statements by Dr HH in expert forum that people who have never had an outbreak but are still HSV2 positive are still at a higher risk from HIV. Would you have any knowledge on that? How without any sores one would still be at a higher risk, I couldn't find any answer.

As I mentioned before, if you wear condoms consistently for intercourse you will not have a risk for HIV even with outbreaks, which you say you haven't had. Anything ((sores - cuts )) near the base or the scrotum does not pose a risk.

You are right. HSV2 does make you more susceptible to HIV transmission , but only if you are not protected during intercourse. You had protected intercourse, therefore you were never at risk.
