i am so confused and need help please

hello,
so yesterday I went into a free rapid test clinic. tested negative. called my doctor who is from San Francisco, and said that the official test for HIV is the lab antibody test. Is this true? He seemed to imply that the rapid tests were not good enough? I have just completed the 3 window mark so i am worried if I should believe the rapid test or if i should do an in lab antibody test like my doctor stated? I am scared it will change????
thanks
