are there any tests that give instant results (like in less than an hour) that are take home tests?  i thought i saw on a site an approved test that gives results in 15 min.?

There are no take home tests that can give results quickly. Assuming you are in the USA. there are home access tests available though you need to draw blood yourself, send it away to a lab and wait for results..Far better to go to a testing centre and get a rapid test there. One rapid test 'Biolytical Insti' gives results in one minute.though not sure if it is approved in your country.

Most countries require any sort of rapid testing to be done in a testing centre (clinic, HIV service organisation ...) so there is pre-test and post-test couselling available. .

Yes- There is an Oraquick test that gives results in about 20 minutes.  It is approved for use on blood or oral fluid.  If you go to hivtest.org, you can search for testing sites in your area that offer this service.  Where I live, the public health department offers this testing for free and you just wait there for your results.  This is a good option for people who don't want to wait long for their results.  You can usually take this test anonymously.
