3 months is conclusive for ALL tests.
thanks..but what is elisa?
HIV DUO should be done in 6 weeks after the exposure .If 6 week HIV DUO gives negative results it is highly unlikely that it will turn into positive after 3 months. 3 months ELISA is compulsory.
Always use condoms and never share needles

Do not worry about your swollen lymph nodes. Many, many people have swollen nodes due to a thousand different things- flu, cold, sore throat, whatever. Please do not link every "symptom" you have to HIV. Just get your 3 months test whenever the time is up. Again, your chances of having gotten HIV after just one exposure are very small. Try to relax until you can be tested, and again- no worries about the swollen lymph nodes.
hi again..i have no fever and my body is normal...just that today i noticed one more lymph node behind my neck..i am worried..i went to the dentist today he said gums infection gives a swollen lymph onlu under chin not anywhere else.then y i must hav got one? expectin a reply,,,thanks.. :)

so after 3 months...if it comes negative,....is it d final result??
3 months post exposure is when you can obtain a conclusive negative test result.
thanks a lot ma'am..... i shall do the test soon.... regards.
test 3 months post exposure the only way u can know
Unprotected sex is a risk. However, if you only had unprotected sex this one time, then your odds of contracting anything are about 1 in 2,000 per sexual episode. You need to get an HIV antibody test at 3 months post exposure. However, the doctors on the expert forum both agree that getting a negative result on a DUO test (tests for both antibody and antigen) is definitive proof that you were not infected. It has been a month since your exposure, so I would go ahead and get a DUO test now for your peace of mind. Just be sure to follow up with one last test at 3 months. But a negative result with a DUO test at 1 month should GREATLY ease your mind and worry.
Additionally, most people do not have HIV and the chances the person you had sex with are small. But you will still need to test as it is the only way to know your status for sure. Good luck! Again, do not focus on your "symptoms" as they mean nothing in regards to HIV. Only a test can tell you your status.
yes..i did have unprotected sex 4 weeks back...and i had some tooth infection also...doctor said i have got lymph node because of the tooth infection..but i am worried..the hiv result was also negative but the tension doesnt reduce..:(
Symptoms are not a factor in HIV. You absolutely cannot diagnose HIV based on symptoms. The ONLY way to know your status is to test after 3 months, whether yo have huge, painful swollen lymph nodes or completely normal ones. Did you have a possible exposure to HIV?
