need to know....

does ARS rash resemble sunburn at all?

I have a small area on my back, maybe the size of a babies hand that is pinkish and looks like sunburn.... is this consistent with ARS rash?

Vick... Asked the following above:

"2. Does ARS rash resemble sunburn, I have read that normally it is maculopapular which is not like sunburn, do you agree?"

Teak's response was "no". No to it does not resemble sunburn OR no in that you do not agree because it could resemble sunburn.

Thanks.

ARS does not come on as one or two symptoms when someone has symptoms there are a host of different symptoms. That being said symptoms will never tell you your status and the only way to know your status is by testing.

You're welcome. Glad to help.

I learned a lot from the writing of Messrs HHH and Hook on that forum when I was where you are now, and it really did help allay my concerns until I got tested and got confirmation that I was OK.

It's a goldmine of useful information from a couple of guys who really know their stuff and know how to put things into proper, informed perspective.

Thanks so much for this, you have no idea how relieved I am and also how nice it is to get the explanation.

Here's another one from HHH (see his second reply in the thread)

The docs explain in numenrous threads that ARS rash typically appears all over the torso, as opposed to just in one small localised area.

Try not to worry - you'll be fine.

Do you mean because he says it is normally over trunk, face, back etc.......???

I just need to get why this small 'sunburn like' area is not ARS...then I can move on until testing time

See here

quote: "... the rash is typically present over the trunk, back and abdomen ..."

I've seen him say much the same in other threads.

The Experts forum is your best bet if you want to talk to a qualified physician for confirmation.

is this right?

My understanding is that an ARS rash tends to be more generalised over the body, and not localised in one place like yours.

No that is not an ARS symptom.

I have a couple of mouth ulcers but other than that nothing.

Do you think this is an ARS rash?  Is this what it looks like?

Is that the only place and symptom you have?

ps, it is completely flat, not raised at all.

Does this sound like an ARS rash?

unprotected vaginal sex.  Only issue is this small, sunburn like area on my back 17 days post exposure.

I will test and i am well aware I need to do this.   All I want to know is if this type of rash is normally associated with ARS.

Thanks

What was your possible exposure?

What was your risk? Symptoms can be very misleading.
