possible risk in contracting stds

Hello there,
I am worried about having possibly getting infected with AIDS or another STDS.. It was about 5 or 6 years ago that I was with a guy who was going through a hard time, and I dont remember too well what happened that night because it was a long time ago. I do know we didnt have sex, because ive alway been scared to get pregnant.. But i dont remember if I put his penis in my mouth (oral sex).. This happened about 5 years ago, and i never gave major thinking to it, because I didnt think you could pass a STD through oral sex. Today for some reason i read you could get STD through oral and im really worried of the possibility of having had him pass me something by just orally. Now I read you have to have had open wounds or soars in your mouth.. by open wounds you mean like something bothering you or bleeding? does "open wound" refer to some little blood in the muoth because of a cut or something? I also gave oral to someone else about two years ago.. I am a woman. What are the chances of me having gotten something if they were infected with some STDS.. I dont recall having any bad wounds or blood in my mouth.. Please help me answer fast to ease my worrynes,, thank you

in the public HIV Prevention forum of MedHelp, TEAK and the other moderators maintain that oral sex in all forms is a zero risk activity. Would you agree with this assessment?

Also Teak had said there is zero risk activity in oral sex but why does article of Doctor GGarcia says studies are not sure or there is a small risk? thank you for clearing up..

Hello Teak,
Thank you for answering mee... ! I read in some post in www.plannedparenthood.com  under STDS that you could get AIDS with oral sex if you had open wounds or soars.. thats the reason i got worried, and i read in a few more places in the internet that that was true, by some doctors, thats why I got worried!
But you tell me that HIV AIDS is not transmitted through oral sex? There is no percet chance really?
What is your experience are you a doctor??

Hi

First of all you don't have HIV..thats for 200%.

As far as STDs are concerned, there are few STDs like Gonorhea and Chlmydia which can spread due to ORAL sex..but very rarely.. Good things is that these are easily curable via antibiotics..But for your case..as this is now about 5-6 years..you can eliminate these risks as well.. So chill and move on..

For STD specific you can post at STD community in MEDHELP.
