The hangnail in question wasn't from clipping his nail. He had it already. It still had visible blood but it looked dry. Maybe a couple of hours old. Like I said for sure 30 mins old.

A little cut from a fingernail clipping is simply not large enough to pose any risk. HIV is very susceptible to the environment. Let's say worse case scenario: he had a cut on his finger from trimming his nails. The blood (and there wouldn't even have been blood from such a tiny cut) would have dried extremely quickly, and any HIV would have been rendered unable to infect due to exposure to oxygen. Also, putting lube on his finger would have killed the virus as well. HIV simply cannot remain infectious outside its host. (a human.) This is not a way that it can be transmitted.

Doesn't hiv get transmitted during unprotected anal sex because of cuts? This is digital sex with a cut.

You had no risk whatsoever from this. A little cut on someone's hand is not going to pose a risk to you for HIV, I assure you. If this were the case, there would be millions more cases of HIV infections around the world. HIV is not that easy to transmit. It can only be transmitted through unprotected vaginal or anal sex, sharing IV drug works, and from mother to baby. A little cut is simply not going to be a risk. You have nothing to worry about! I promise.

will a hangnail with dry blood inserted be dangerous and risky? His middle finger had one with blood it looked at least a couple of hours old. For sure older than 30 minutes because that's the time we talked before doing anything.
