smoking can cause thrush??

Hey,
Today I found out that I have thrush .I have seen the pictures in internet.
I have white cottage cheese like things on whole of my tongue.
If I try to clean them I can scrap that a bit but there is little bleeding afterwards.
after brushing for some time it is a bit ok but again in 2 hours I use to get this thing again.
can it be because of Smoking or somethin xxx..
please tell me straight.........
