Does standard test detect superinfection or i need to do any other test pls help
HIV superinfection is when an already infected individual acquires a second strain of the virus. A person who is seronegative worrying about testing for primary infection does not have to worry about this.
Thanks for your responce, my main question is that I tested my self for 3rd and 4th genratipn test and its abt 3 months all came negetive, so my question is that does these dignosis catch superinfection as well or do i need to take a diffrent type of test my symptoms are still present pls help as I came to know my two parter was poz.
Unprotected sex has put you at risk. Though, statistically the odds are low that you have been infected with any STD's including HIV.
None the less you do need testing. Have a 4th gen HIV/antigen DUO test done 4 weeks post your last unprotected exposure. If you don't have access to a DUO test, have a 3rd gen antibody test done 7-8 weeks post your last exposure.
The DUO test will be conclusive anytime 4 weeks post exposure. The 3rd gen antibody test will be conclusive at 7-8 weeks. The 3 month baseline from the CDC is outdated. They haven't updated their information on antibody testing sensitivity of todays tests. They have put in new guidelines on the 4th gen DUO being conclusive at 4 weeks.
Good luck.
