what is the index value means

I had conducted a HIV 1&2   Anitibody p24 antigen duo Test at 4 months,  6months and 12months mark from the possible exposure. All results are came back negetive. But there are different  variations in Index Value. This means negetive is going to positive. What is index value means. Can we predict the possibility to possitive when we see the index value numarics.  In my 4 months test the index value was 0.02, at 6 months test the index value was 0.12, but at 12 months test the index value is 0.29. The value number is going up. What is it meant. Negative is going to positive. I am very much worried about this index value in my negetive report
