used astroglide and have swollen lymph nodes, hiv exposure?
Hello everybody, I hope everyone is having a good Monday. My friend referred me to this site and said nothing but good things about you guys here so I thought I would ask a few questions. SOOO here is waht happened. About 2 weeks ago I had my very first gay experience. Oral sex unprotected and anal sex with protection. However, I mistakenly grabbed the olive oil I had instead of the Astroglide. (They were right next to each other and it was dark) We used that as our lubricant and a pretty good amount. So me realizing after it happened and me being the hypochondriac I am ofcourse I have read everything on the internet that there is to read. The condom did not have a catastrophic failure it appeared to be completely intact. So here is what is happening. Since about saturday I have noticed a weird feeling in my neck. It makes me think my lymph nodes are swollen but every time i check (and i mean i check like every 10 -15 minutes) they seem to be fine. And I have no obvious lumps sticking out of my neck, however I definitely feel like something is there. At first I thought I was just being paranoid but like a idiot I cleaned my ears with q tips and water and now IDK if that intensified this feeling or if they were going to feel like this regardless. But could it be that the water in my ears is causing my neck to feel a little stiff? When I woke up this morning I didnt really have any pain but when I stretch my mouth with it closed I can feel a slight tenderness there. So far this is the only changed that I have noticed (knock on wood) but to get my piece of mind back what test can I take at around 40 days to be sure that I did not contract this disease. I've spoken to several doctors and some say that it is unlikely that the olive oil caused my condom to be ineffective without a catastrophic failure but the words unlikely really scare me. I need yes or no. I am already going crazy so 3 months of this is just something that I dont believe I can handle. What should I do here to get my sense of safeness/ peace of mind back before I ever stepped foot into this situation. Im kind of losing it so please help me. Thanks 1,000 times!
Update: after 30 days negative 4th gen duo lab test. This has been the one of the longest months of my life. Much much thanks to this forum for not just making stuff up with no scientific evidence like a lot of the sites out there

You are the only one who is surprised your theories were wrong and that you can't have HIV, so next time you get worried then refer to this thread instead of working yourself up for nothing.

Since you were never exposed to HIV then it's no surprise that your test was negative. It's pretty silly to continue testing for something you were never exposed to. Why not donate the money you'd pay for a test to an HIV Awareness charity instead so at least the money would go toward something useful.

seem to have this asked alot here recently. there are no microholes that will transmit hiv, regardless of what you read anywhere else. your condom would have to be broken on your case, which it was not. zero risk. maybe don't keep lube in your kitchen or cooking oil in your bedroom. you do not want to serve food with astroglide in it.
Anxiousnomore gave you all the information you need. It is not a risk. That's it. There's nothing to add to that. Continuing to question is a sign of your anxiety and I'd talk to your doctor about that. Anxiety can be treated.

You can't get HIV when you use a condom and it only has to cover the urethra so you are safe. You don't have any medical training so should not be thinking that Google taught you how to know what lymph feels like and poke around irritating lymph - especially since it is a waste of time. Never clean your ears with q tip either, so relax and move on from HIV before you cause some actual damage to your body.

HIV is instantly inactivated in air and also in saliva which means it is effectively dead so it can't infect from touching, external rubbing or oral activities. It doesn't matter if you and they were actively bleeding or had cuts at the time either because the HIV is effectively dead.
Only 3 adult risks are the following:
1. unprotected penetrating vaginal with a penis
2. unprotected penetrating anal sex with a penis
3. sharing needles that you inject with. Knowing these 3 are all you need to know to protect yourself against HIV. The situation you describe is a long way from any of these 3.
Even with blood, lactation, cuts, rashes, burns, etc the air or the saliva does not allow inactivated virus to infect from touching, external rubbing or oral activities. Doctors have calculated the risk from what you describe to be less than that of being hit by a meteor, therefore no one will get HIV from what you did in the next 40 years of your life either. The above HIV science is 40 years old and very well established, so no detail that you can add to your encounter will change it from zero risk.

Really? Because Ive read so many places that if u use a condom with oils of any such they cause leakage to the condom, so that is a complete lie? What is the risk with using these oils then??
and im not really scared about the oral sex just the fact that I was in the moment and grabbed the olive oil and didnt check, and then all these sites have basically convinced me that ive put myself at risk when i did everything i could/knew to protect myself. really sucks..
