worried about HIV condom slip during vaginal sex

I am 45yr old male and had mostly protected sex with a married female on a one night stand in the USA on 1/29/08. I did not know her at all but she seemed clean and educated person. I asked her before having sex, if she was d/d free? and she said she is.

During vaginal sex the condom slip while she was on top of me. I noticed it after a minute and so, and withdrew the penis and saw condom was covering only half of my penis head while most of the condom slipped out.

We also had unprotected oral sex before having vaginal sex.

Four days later, I experienced generalized body itch including itching on pubic hair. No itching on anus at all.. I had no rash, but small 2-3 pimples on my chest and near pubic area. I went to see my doctor, and after hearing the story and checking pimples he ruled out any chance of STD or HIV. I took some antihistamine and most of my body itching is gone now. It sometimes itch on head, ears, shoulders, legs, ankles and foot.
14 days later I had sore throat, cough with no fever and lasted 2 days before getting better. I am worried now about any exposure to HIV. Is this flu like symptoms related to early sign of HIV?
I have scheduled to see my doctor and have HIV test done in 3 weeks from now.
I am so stupid why I did this?
I am so worried and I can't even sleep at night. I hope I did not pass my infection to my girl friend, since  I had sex with my GF on the same night as my sexual encounter mishap.
Please advise.

Guys don't take anyone's words that they are negative. Some of them don't even know that they themselves are positive.

I had worse 6 weeks of my life waiting for test results. I read all posts and advice by Dr. HH and concluded that my risk was very very low since that lady I slept with was married and mother of two kids and she assured me that she does not sleep around. But it was hard for me to believe her after her assurance that she has no STD,.

I got HIV ELISA test at 3,week  5 week  and 6.5 week, They all came negative. As per Dr. HH  6 week HIV test post exposure is almost
99% accurate, hence I am little relieved.

I am so thankful to God that I am Ok and have learned to never make that mistake again in my life. 1 hr of pleasure is not worth this agony..

I am 99.99% sure that I am ok and may not need any further testing  but I will still plan to test at 12 week mark to get all this behind me.

May God help us all to make better decisions.

also, want to say : Dr HH and Edward, Thank you for this noble service
Good Luck.

Hi,

I too had a similar incident 4 days ago (on 17th March). I am a 30 year old married male. I had sex with a prostitute. She sucked me without a condom, and we had sex with she on top. Even after I ejaculated she kept on pumping for about 45 sec - 1 min. And when she alighted from me, the condom slipped and remained in her vagina. I don't know when it slipped and did my penis had contact with her vagina.

I know I did something very very stupid and am not scread. I started prohylaxis treatment after 55 hours of exposure (Lamivudine, Zidovudine and Nevarapine - twice a day).

But I am not a peace, I haven't been able to sleep or eat properly since then. And if I wait for 6-8 weeks for the antibod test, I know I will be dead by then.

So I am planning to go for the PCR test, one week after exposure. Will it be reliable? Will the prophylaxic treatment affect the test ad mask the results? Is the prophylaxic treatment any good?

God, help me.

Your itching being relieved by taking the antihistamine shows it was just an allergy.

Guess what? Right now I have a sore throat an coughs... that is an everyday thing... why would you find its cause into hiv?

Your test at 3 weeks is useless (if is an antibodies one).

Your condom protected the critical part when it comes to hiv: your glans (head).

Unprotected oral, as you will find in your frenetic browsing, is zero risk for hiv.

Pimples? Don't we all get pimples? And they coming out just 4 days later? Doesn't sound like an std to me.

You are fine. Give your mind a brake.

Hi there,

Your symptoms are not HIV specific.  It's important to keep in mind these symptoms are almost identical to those of many other illnesses. That's why testing is so important. Very often people who have the symptoms are worrying unnecessarily.

Firstly, oral sex carry no risk if you are receiveing from her.  Giving carries very very low risk(in theory).

Think of it this way, the condom slipped while you are pulling out from her...In other words, you had protected sex.... : o )

Well, even the condom slipped, your risk of HIV infect per incident, is still very very low.  If you are concern do take a test not earlier than 6 weeks after exposure to ease your concerns.

Personally, I think it's more about guilt and stress you are facing.

Cheers!
