Hi, I can tell you what helped me. My headache, head pressure lasted 12 years and 6 weeks, and it took 180mg of morphine to overcome the level of pain. Just over 3 years ago, i had a little procedure done, NOT surgery - called Neurocranial Restructuring and in 3 days my symptoms were reduced like 95%. I had taken pain meds like morphine for 9 years. I've never needed or taken another dose since. I can't say if yours has cause similar to mine - but check it out anyway. ncrdoctors.com

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
It is difficult to diagnose the exact cause of headache on net. I can list the various causes. You can go over them one by one and see what has not been looked into.
It can be a spinal nerve compression at the cervical vertebral level. Sleeping in wrong posture, overuse of computers, neck sprain as in a jerk or car accident can all cause this. MRI of the cervical spine will be required for diagnosis. High blood pressure is another possibility. Refractive errors (far and near sightedness) and eye strain also cause headaches. Poor sleep pattern is another cause. Stress and tension can cause tension headaches.
Well, migraine, tension headaches, cluster headaches etc should all be looked into. However there are other possibilities that you should explore.
One is dental ache as in an exposed root canal. This causes shooting unbearable pain radiating to head, neck, shoulder, ear, everywhere in the head and neck region I would say.
A visit to your dentist is a must and should be the first step.
The second possibility is an internal ear pain. Again it is the same as dental pain. Consult an ENT specialist for this.
The third possibility is brain tumor. You would need to consult a neurologist. However I think it is unlikely as you do not have any other neurological symptom
The clue to right treatment is right diagnosis of the headache. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor (PCP). It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
