I learnt that keppra are use to treat brain seizures....would like to know what is the function and effects of keppra? been treated with 250mg of keppra, (twice a day)

My son was hit by a car & hit his frontal lobe he was in sicu it's only been 8 days they have had him on keppra 1000mg to prevent seizure how long should he stay on he wakes up but is so drowsy in between
