Severe head injury and major surgery. What are the risks to me?

Hi there,

I've been chasing answers to this lately but hitting brick walls. In 2012 I was involved in a near fatal car accident in which I suffered major trauma to the head. Following this I was airlifted and stabilised at the closest major hospital. The damage to my head was extensive, suffering a base of skull fracture and over 50 fractures in my head and face. The Maxillofacial reconstruction (forgive me if my terminology is not accurate) operation that followed lasted for 17 and a half hours and involved a complete reconstruction of the right side of my face. I still do not have any feeling on this side, it's totally numb and has been since the accident. My big question is this: Am I at risk of life threatening consequences if I suffer any kind of impact to the head? I ask because I remember clear as day while I was in recovery, the doctors telling me over and over again how important it is to protect my head because any injury could be fatal. However, due to my memory issues stemming from the brain injury, I can't remember exactly what they said. I contacted them, but none of them will write a report for me because the surgery was too long ago. If anyone could give me any information on this, or point me in the right direction of where I can get some info, I would greatly appreciate it, I don't know where else to get my answers.

Thank you so much in advance.
