Insurance for Cancer Patient

I have a friend with Colon Cancer with mets to Lymph Nodes.
She is currently covered thru COBRA.  That coverage ends on Nov 30.
She lives in OK.

Do you know of any Insurance companies that will cover a Cancer Patient?....She is going thru Chemo at present time.
Looking for something that will be accepted by MD Anderson and maybe Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

They make too much money for Medicaid or any State Funded or Free Clinics.

They realize the price won't be cheap, but hoping for $500 or less monthly....

They are having a hard time find anything locally.

Any help will be appreciated.

**They are not looking for Discount Programs like Ameriplan.  They need actual Insurance**

Dear hotrodgirl,

You are correct in assuming that most Individual Health Insurance Carriers would not accept an applicant who is going through treatment for a pre-existing condition like Cancer. Your friend's best bet is "Oklahoma High Risk Pool".

The Oklahoma High Risk Pool provides health insurance to Oklahoma residents who have been denied coverage. Before your friend's COBRA runs out, she would need to apply for major medical coverage with a local Carrier (doesn't which one or for what plan becasue she will most likely get denied anyways) & get a formal declination letter. Once your friend exhausts her COBRA, she can present Oklahoma State Health Insurance Risk Pool with her declination letter & apply for their program.

She can contact them at 877-793-6477 or visit them on line at www.okhrp.org to get necessary forms & documents needed for enrollment.

Sincerely,

Amir Mostafaie
