member of ppo plan

I have a question to ask please:  hope im in the right place ? sorry if im not !
I was in a top rated Hmo plan - and was put on b.p medication for about 5years - I had adverse side effects happen and got very sick from the medications (allergic reactions) all confirmed by E.R. Doctors.  I have tryed asking my primary care doctors to please get me off the medications or switch to another type. 4 doctors have refused me !  Why?  dont I have a right to get off the Meds.
or at least Switch to another type???  Its been a long uphill fight I have .. I have now Switched to a new PPO open access plan - as I just signed up to see a New Doctor who accepts the plan.  Im wondering if he will refuse me , like the others did ?   Does anyone know, How to moreless Demand
they switch or take me off the medications!  and what can I really Do ?

I talked to Law firm already about this, but they fear going after Hmo or ppo plans.  as well Doctors?
I cant understand this..
thanks for any help here..  nomoe

Dear nomoe,

I can answer the insurance related part of your question but I am wondering, when your doctors refused to change your medications that were causing allergic reaction, did you asked them why?
As for insurance related part of your question; it seems like you are currently enrolled in a PPO plan & yes you can consult a new physician. When you do so, I recommend the following;
- Don't take out your frustration on the new doctor.
- Don't take too much time dueling on your experience with HMOs in the past.
- Write down your issues so you don't leave anything out.
- Don't suggest treatment when you are going over your symptoms, let him be the doctor & tell you what you need.
- Be 100% honest & upfront.
As for the other part of your question that has to do with why your doctors insist upon keeping you on beta blockers, I have to say it is more appropriate to be posted in the Cardiology forum.

Sincerely,

Amir

Thank for the Info its very helpfull indeed.
I do understand not taking out frustration on a new Doctor and keeping it simple.
and letting him do his job.

I asked all Doctors in the past Hmo plan, Why they were refusing me and to be Honest
they wouldnt tell me. only one Doctor told me, that he liked the Medication im taking ?
nothing more.  My last Doctor said before I left him, the medication is good for you ??

I will check out the Cardiology fourm tonight..

Again Thank you very much for your help and info .. nomoe
