Ear Fullness and Hearing Loss

Hi,
For the past 8 months i have suffered from a hearing problem in my right ear. The ear feels full and my hearing in that ear is not as good as it once was.
The ear crackles when i swallow and will not pop out fully when i pinch my nose and blow softly. Also when i place the flat of my hand to my ear and press onto my ear i hear a few clicks like my ear drum is being pushed back. I show non of these signs in my left ear.

This all started after walking across the apron at work when a turbo prop aircraft was having an engine test. The noise was around 120db and i was exposed to it for less than 30 seconds.

I went to the doctor 8 months ago who said my ear drum was retracted and i was congested. He gave me some steroid spray for nose and some tablets for allergies as well as some antibiotics as my ear drum looked red. The meds made no difference.

So here i am 8 months later tearing my hair out and racked with worry, anxiety and depression. I just want to feel normal again. Everydays a struggle and y life just feels wrecked by this problem :o(

Thanks in advance,
Shaun.

I suggest you see a specialist such as an ENT.  They have specialized diagnositic tools and standard methods that may be able to help you.  Good luck, and wishing you a complete and speedy recovery.

Hey,

Thanks for the replies.

No the Dr. was not  specialist however the last one i went to see about 4 years ago diagnosed me with a ETD.

The past couple of days i have taken sudafed spray and beconase and my symptoms have lifted slightly. My ear no longer feels as pressurised and my hearing is slightly better. I'm hoping its not permanent hearing loss after all!!

Cheers,
Shaun.

Was the doctor a specialist/ENT?  Have you had a second opinion (maybe see a top specialist) to confirm the exact diagnosis?

I've been having similar problems with my hearing. I went to the doctor and he gave me clarinex and flonnase. The medications did nothing. I have spoken with two other people that have had similar issues with their hearing. One person said his problems went away after one month. I've had problems for one month and it doesn't seem do be getting any better.
