sound in my mothers head.

My mother is about 78 years old. She is complaining that she is listening sounds in her brain as such some vehicle is running. She is becoming mad., Her hearing capacity is also too low. We have to shout a lot so that she hears. I am thinking this is happening because her years were cleaned by throwing water inside years with pressure, this might have caused nerve weakness. ENt doctor suggests she has to take proper hearing aid. Psychiatrist said this is not a psychiatric problem. My mother says that the sounds appears to be appearing from back of head., What is the real treatment to stop this sound. My mother do not have sugar. BP used to be little high. One stunt was put in her heart vain recently 3 months back.

Yes it is tinnitus. I am 81 and had tinitus since last 30 years. It is a ringing sound. there are about 4 types of sounds. This is genetic. My mother and my many siblings(we were 6 brothers and two sisters) had this problem. I am also deaf. Deafness runs in our family. Hypothyroidism is also a genetic disorder. You may get test t4, t3, and tsh.
No drugs are availabe for tinnitus. I did try some acupressure treatment. You may google for the same. I have learned to live with tinnitus and deafness. I am using hearing aids in both the years.
You  and your siblings should check up for hypothyroid disorder.

This may be tinnitus, which is often associated with hearing loss. It likely has nothing to do with cleaning her ears with water (although this is certainly a bad idea); more likely it is part of the aging process.

You should bring your mother to an audiologist for an evaluation of her hearing. Hearing aids may be necessary for her to hear you better.

She should describe the sounds she hears to the audiologist, as well.

Let us know how it goes.
