30 Day eVolution Event Monitor
Curiousity is starting to get the best of me and I start watching it. Sometimes it chirps. Just one chirp and a look at the LCD screen shows a *0 above and 0 below the box on the right which usually has an 8 above and a 0 below. But sometimes it doesn't chirp that one chirp and still there will be a *0 or *1 above the box and a 1 or 0 below. Other times it may or may not chirp that one chirp but there will be a * and some number, 0,1 or 2 above the box, a solid bar in the box and a number below the box, usually 1 or 0. What the heck does this all mean? I HATE not knowing just what this little black beast is up to when it does these things!!!!
I am assuming that it must be reporting about a 30 minute "loop" to the monitoring station. I am assuming that a solid bar in the box is indicating an asymptomatic event. Since sometimes it chirps one chirp and other times it doesn't that when it does chirp it took a little longer than usual to connect w/the cell tower for the transmission.
Am I anywhere near on target w/my assumptions? Does anyone know just what this little beastie is doing w/its screen messages and chirp and lack of chirp??? I HATE NOT KNOWING. Curiosity killed the cat - and I've got 11 more days to live w/this beastie and the curiosity!!!!! Cats only have 9 lives.

Ah well, thank you so much for trying. I'll give you an A for Effort if that helps. My family doctor is out of town this week *sigh* He's the one who ordered the Event Monitor. So I have an appointment w/the cardiologist who called for this Thursday. Not bad for an initial appointment.
I'm thinking now that it transmits something like 30 minute "loops" of data via the wireless technology and that the "bars" that appear in the box are not "events" but rather "loops" that couldn't be transmitted (we live in an area of poor cell phone reception). I'm thinking that the 8 above the box on the right is how many 30 minute "loops" it can hold before they MUST be transmitted (by landline phone if necessary). 8 x 30 =24. And the number below the box is the number of "loops" needing/waiting to be transmitted.
Now my curiosity is up (I hadn't thought that far ahead) WHAT in the devil do they do w/some 720 hours of data??? No way they store all that data!! I assume they read over 24 hours of data to get a feel for a "normal" day and "normal" heart activity during a day. Maybe even keep one day to compare to the next day. And after that only keep the data strips that show any "abnormalities" or problems. Is that what CC would do?

Unfortunately, we don't use this monitoring system here at the Cleveland Clinic and so nobody was able to answer any of your concerns. I would probably ask the doc who ordered the monitor to get in touch with the rep for that particular company and aswer your questions. There should also be a 1-800 number somewhere on the monitor which you should be able call and get in touch with the tech support. Sorry I can't be of more help.
By the way, THANK YOU ever so much for monitoring and responding to our questions here!!! What a blessing to have the opportunity to have our trivial questions answered!

Thank you. I will call my family doctor who ordered the monitor Monday morning. I would so very much appreciate if you can find out from your tech support just what this eVolution event monitor is up to. I'm actually beginnng to resent the little beastie for not give up its secrets to me. *wicked grin*
I was very surprised to have another event tonight. As on 29 July something was transmitted to a cardiologist in town. He did call. The event was over by the time he called. He said he will order a script for Lopressor for me until I am see him in his office. I now accept and understand that I need follow up w/a cardiologist given this increasing frequency but feel like scripting Lopressor before he knows my health history is jumping the gun. I am not overweight (5'3" and 115 lbs), I do not have high BP. My cholesterol levels, etc. are all good. I do have COPD and Crohn's disease (which is in at least symptomatic remission if not full remission). He has no idea what medications I am on other than that I am not on any cardiac medications. I looked him up and he is in the same office as the cardiologist who called me on the 29th. The cardiologist on the 29th is an electrophysiologist cardiologist. I'll make an appointment w/my family doctor to talk things over before deciding which way to go.

I will ask our tech support about what all this means. I only prescribe them and haven't actually worn one to know what it could be up to. You can always call your doctor and ask if there was anything transmitted to him.
