Aortic Aneurysm Repair and Valve Replacement

If you cant pay your out of pocket part of heart surgery that you need do you not get to have it?  I need a stint/aortic aneurysm repair and an aortic valve replacement and do not have the 20 percent that i would be asked to pay. I dont eve know how much the surgery would cost but quess it is 40k to 60K. We have no savings and have student loans and low incomes.  I also need to find out if I can have the surgery which valve to choose and if I will ever be able to lift weights and work out again and how much work I would miss for recovery. I work a desk job.

I would suggest addressing these questions towards your health care professional who has been following your care and/or recommending your procedure. There may be options at your particular health care system and/or existing health care plan that will allow for such a procedure.  The choice in the particular valve that is used in an AVR depends on a number of factors such as age and candidacy for anticoagulation (if using a mechanical valve). Again, these are questions that are best directed to your surgeon.
