My 8 year old son was dignosed with aortic stenosis, and arotic regurgitation when he was 4.  We have seen our cardiologist regularly since then. At his last visit, the Docter said he'd like to start medication. He prescribed Digoxin (Lanoxin). My son has also been diagnosed with ADHD. FOr this he takes 10mg of Ritalin 2times a day.( only on school days)  My concern is that I am pumping my child full of medication, and don't have any clue about the long term affects.  My son is very active. He is very good in sports, but he does tire alot faster than others his age. Last time he had an echo test, his average grade was around 24. I don't know alot of the terminology used. But what I do need, is know what kind of life I can expect for my son. When first tested his grade was much lower. Can we expect his grade to steadally get worse with each year,as it has in the past?  Any insight at all would be greatly appreciated.  Andrea

In response to the question from DLS.

This may be an aneurysm and should be fully evaluated.

As far as the hair falling out this may be the diet or a metabolic condition.  I would recommend  a thyroid test.

It would be important to discuss this with your physician.

Sorry, but I'm just doing research, I'm not really sure what it is.  I'm just trying to find some stuff about it for an attorney.  I'm not reading much on the pages, just finding stuff that has info on it.  You should put up your OWN question by it's self, so others can answer your question.

Thanks, and sorry that I couldn't be at any help.

This is a froum to provide information to patients only.  I may suggest the following references for your review.  This would include the testbook of Dr. Eugene Braunwald entitled cardiovascular medicine. or Dr. Eric Topols textbook on heart disease.

There's a ton literally of information available to you on the 'net. Try the Ross procedure page, or read the archives here, as well as several other sites under a search engine. Just type in
Aortic Valve surgery or disease' or go to 'Medline' the same way.
