BP Question

This is probably a silly question, but if my blood pressure is consistently reading 120/84 while on Atenolol and prior to 4 months ago it was always 90/70 (even during pregnancy), is this considered high blood pressure?  I understand that 120/80 is optimal, but relative to my normal readings, I'm just curious.  Thanks.

Thanks to all for your input.  I recently (5/10) started Atenolol due to an arrhythmia.  My blood pressure has always been around 90/70, but I was just curious since it's been anywhere from 110/70 to 139/89 over the past 4 months (had a seizure in March and have since been through many tests to uncover the cause).  Thanks again for your help.  Take care.

I would think 90/70 is a bit low. Th reading of 120/84 is more a noral reading in my opinion.

Not a silly question at all. Was it 90/70 while on Atenolol also?

i would say no. i just went throught my bp issuse with my cardio dr and your readings are good., do you know why it went up from 90/70 to this?   mine is low like 106/60 most the times but last 4 weeks it has had days at 160/88 182/94 and i found out its when am under stress. my dr would not blink a eyer at your readings she told me if its 150-up and lower number 90 and up for 24/7 than they consider that you have high bp if it drops down some and does not stay high for week than its not really hbp/ what i was told
